MGMT, The Chick From Parmore, and The Raconteurs. Artists/Bands that are”Banger-rang Rufio? Correct.

So the title is basically what I have been musically addicted to for the past week or so. If you don’t know MGMT ( formally pronounced “Management” but after being sued- now pronounced, “M-G-M-T”), they are pretty darn cool. This electric rock duo met freshmen year at Wesleyan University where both were pursuing art degrees. There music stretches the spectrum from catchy disco tunes to futuristic rock anthems… I know, weird combination. I hear their shows are like performance art- the lead singer sings half of the set with the crowd in the actual audience (umm: cool). Check them out!!

All I have to say about Hayley Williams from Paramore is that that woman can sing! Let’s see, she is only nineteen and pretty much a modern day siren (ok, lame reference).Anyways, I am not a huge fan of the power-chord, “alterno-post punk” musical genre, but with her fronting the whole operation- makes it pretty much a guilty pleasure.

Jack White has done it again. If you haven’t grabbed the new Raconteurs album, “Consolers of the Lonely” you need to plug into the times. I never really got the guy– even when he was doing the whole White Stripes thing. Luckily, I got the privilege to go see the White Stripes in concert last Fall ( thanks Meredith- awesome birthday gift!) and it changed my whole perception. It is truly amazing how many influences this guy has… plus its just him and drummer… what amazing power. This album is even better than the last one. Connecting with such talented musicians as Brendan Benson and Jack Lawrence ( from Blanche and the greenhomes), this album is sure to be a classic!
